Minding My Own Business

Welcome to the new home of Minding My Own Business.  The blog that focuses on topics related to financial and personal success.  I decided to make the move from Wordpress.com so that I could maintain greater control of the website and pursue some money making opportunities through Google and Amazon that are not allowed through Wordpress’ free service.  I’m sure there are several great choices for web hosting.  In the end, I chose to go with Globat based upon some good reviews I found on the internet.  I got a package deal for $4.99 per month that included my domain name registration (mindingmyownbusiness.net of course) and healthy amounts of storage and bandwidth.  So far I’ve been very pleased with their performance.  You can learn more about Globat and a special web-hosting package that’s available through your affiliation with MMOB.

So what are the big changes?  There are several.  Certainly the look and feel of the site is a bit different.  One of the necessary evil’s in the transition to a three column format has been moving to the Cutline them.  Pressrow (which is my favorite theme) isn’t available in a split three column variety.  I think there’s probably a whiz bang way to do some simple HTML coding to bring one together, but until my HTML ability improves we’ll be working with Cutline.  In the meantime, if you know of someone who has modified Pressrow into a split three column widget-aware theme, please let me know.

There will be some ongoing changes over the next week or so as I tidy up Cutline to meet my needs.  I still have to fix the page links at the top of the page and find a better header picture to convey MMOB’s message.

I’ve also started to incorporate advertisements that are related to the content we discuss here at MMOB and will soon add the ability to purchase books off my recommended reading list through Amazon.

The intent is not to inundate you with advertisements, but rather provide opportunities that are related to the reasons you visit MMOB.

Also down the left side of the page you’ll find a series of video links.  I discovered these on YouTube and think they provide some great foundational understanding for many of the financial topics I cover here.
